At Semillistas, we are thrilled to share some news that inspires us to keep moving forward: we have received the Land and Soil Management Award 2026, a European recognition that highlights our work in restoring soils and forest ecosystems.
This award recognizes initiatives that address key challenges such as erosion, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss, and highlights innovative proposals that can be replicated in different regions. In our case, what is valued is our commitment to direct seeding supported by biotechnology, a methodology that seeks to mimic and support natural processes to regenerate the Mediterranean forest.
Our approach combines laboratory research with fieldwork and community action. Through tools such as seed treatment, the use of protectors, and the careful selection of planting times and locations, we aim to increase the likelihood of success in complex contexts, especially in areas affected by fires or degradation.
Furthermore, this model is based on openly sharing knowledge, with the intention that it can be adapted and replicated by other communities. We believe that large-scale restoration will only be possible if we build networks, exchange lessons learned, and provide accessible tools.
This recognition is also collective. It is part of a journey we undertake alongside volunteers, collaborators, organizations, and individuals who participate in planting, research, and outreach. Every contribution adds to this process of regenerating not only the soil but also the ways in which we relate to the land.
Receiving this award encourages us to continue deepening our work in this area, improving our methodologies, and expanding the scope of our actions. We continue to plant, learn, and share, with our sights set on the long term and the regeneration of the ecosystems we inhabit.
