Workshop on Seed Improvement and Germination in Almócita

Workshop on Seed Improvement and Germination in Almócita

On October 18, 2025, we were in Almócita to lead an in-person workshop on seed improvement and germination for use in fruit and vegetable production. It was a training session in which we delved into the processes that activate, strengthen, and optimize the potential of seeds before planting.

Led by Daniel Calatayud, we covered a comprehensive introduction to germination and various improvement strategies. We analyzed how germination tests work, what information they provide, and how to apply them in real-world contexts. We also worked on on-site priming treatments, a key tool for promoting more uniform and vigorous germination.

We set aside a specific time to answer questions, share experiences, and compare practices. For us, these moments of exchange are just as valuable as the technical content, because they allow us to continue learning as a community and adapt our knowledge to each region and local production context.

As part of our commitment to free, high-quality knowledge, we have uploaded the entire workshop, divided into four sessions, to our YouTube channel:

At Semillistas, we understand that caring for seeds is also caring for the future. Whether in forest restoration projects or in fruit and vegetable production, we remain committed to rigorous, accessible, and shared training that strengthens the autonomy and sustainability of our territories.
